Welcome to the world of ecoprinting. No two leaves print the same. Each print is unique. The results are affected by different times of year, different pot mixtures, whether it has rained or not, whether two trees had the same Mummy and Daddy. It's an adventure
This garment has been carefully ecoprinted using rose and firethorn leaves. It is loose style, with a drawstring waist and roll-up sleeves making it adaptable for wearing as both a daytime casual and dressed up evening outfit. It can be worn on it’s own or as a summer cover up. I use a method of ecoprinting which does not include adding chemical mordants. The result is a muted palette of sables, moody purples, subtle greens and a rage of oranges. I print each garment individually chosing the leaves and layout I think will give the best effect. I can never know in advance exactly how a particular leaf will print, so opening up the bundle is always a surprise! To take care of this garment and ensure the print’s longevity, it is best to use pure soap when washing. I just grate a little from an olive oil soap bar into warm water to disolve it before using. Do not use laundry products with fabric brighteners or stain removers.
